1992 TASWELL 43' CUSTOM CUTTER

Featured yacht in Isle of Sail

The technology of boat building today is both sophisticated and complex. Attention to detail has never been more important. The Taswell series from Ta Shing represents the very best of technology enriched and refined through the shipwright's art.

Ta Shing Yacht Building Co., Ltd. has always built quality yachts, including the Tashiba, Mason, Tayana series, and Norseman 447 sailing yachts. Deciding to create a new standard of excellence for passage-making yachts, Ta Shing turned to naval architect Bill Dixon and his team to design the Taswell series.

According to C.M. Juan, Ta Shing's president, "What impressed us most about Bill Dixon's designs was that first and foremost they projected a sequence of yachts promising high performance, yet providing exceptionally comfortable seagoing accommodations. We immediately liked Bill's fine balance of the features important to us in this new series."

Some of the many custom features that make this particular Taswell 43 a truly exceptional, one of a kind yacht include:

  • Scheel keel provides increased sailing performance.
  • Tall carbon fiber mast with higher sail aspect ratio. The combination of carbon mast and Scheel keel provide better righting moment and better upwind performance.
  • Custom storage cabinets & bookshelves provide extra storage
  • Lunaire 16,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioner provides excellent interior climate control.
  • Copper clad bottom resists bottom growth.
  • Stainless steel arch on transom provides plenty of space for mounting radar, antennas, and wind generators.

"The design task from Ta Shing, very simply put, was to create a new series of larger cruising sailboats with a bit of performance both on and off the wind and to do all this with exceptional interior accommodation."
- Bill Dixon, N.A.
